A deep mountain with continuous massive rocks in the Taisetsu mountains

Mt. Tomuraushi is located in the center of Taisetsu-zan National Park. The summit is complex terrain as a crator is sandwitched by twin peaks. Ainu’s ‘Playing Garden of God’ allegorizes a mountain scenery with continuous huge rocks and strangely shaped rocks, wide varieties of alpine plants and various size of lakes spreading out.

Difficulty during the best season: intermediate level
Trailhead: Tanshuku-tozanguchi (shortcut trailhead)

Route and estimated course time:
Shortcut trailhead -(1:30)- Kamui-tenjyo -(2:30)- Mae-tom-taira -(1:50)- Mt. Tomuraushi -(1:20)- Mae-tom-taira -(2:00)- Kamui-tenjo -(1:00)- Shortcut trailhead [10:10 in total]

Note: It is a gentle slope until Kamui-tenjyo. After Kamui-tenjo,the route is along a river. From Mae-tom-taira, the route becomes steeper with sand gravel. If hiking start at Tomuraushi Onsen, it takes two more hours.
