A mountain famous known for bloom of alpine plants and flowers

Mt. Hayachine is famous for a flower-carpeted hillside, with special species including “Leontopodium hayachinense” which is more beautiful than Edelweiss. Moreover, alpine plants including endemic species bloom in rocky ridge over 1,300 m above the see lebvel. Mt. Hayachine is formed with Mesozoic formation, the oldest geology in Japan, and is a monadnock which had withstood an erosion caused by glaciers the glacial epoch.

Route and estimated course time:
Kawarabou -(2:00)- Zukouri -(1:30)- Mt. Hayachine -(0:50)- Gogoume (5th station) Okanekura -(1:00)- Odagoe -(0:30)- Kawarabou [6:10 in total]

Note: The route from Kawanobou (Kawanobou route) is steepr than the route from Odagoe (Odagoe route). In rainy days, the Kawanobou route should not be choosen for the downhill way because it becomes slippery. For inexperience hikers, it may be better to use a shuttle bus to Odagoe and hike only the Odagoe route.

Tokyo Station -[JR Tohoku Shinkansen]- Shin-Hanamaki Station -[Iwateken Kotsu Bus]- Ohasama Bus terminal -[Iwateken Kotsu Bus]- Kawanobou (traihead)
(Bus directly to Kawanobou from Shin-Hanamaki Station may be run. It does not run in 2013 season.)

    I noticed the beauty of Japanese nature when I went to an English language school in the US. While staying the US, I enjoyed hiking at National Parks. I wanted visitors from different countries to have a good time here in Japan as I did in the US.
