A gentle shaped holy mountain for mountain ascetic
Mt. Gassan is widely known for flowers and object of mountain worship. A large amount of snowfalls nurtures flowers, marsh and forest in high mountain. The abundant snowmelt flows though the country. Mt. Gassan, Mt. Haguro and Mt. Yudono are are collectively called “Dewa-sanzan (the three mountains of Dewa)” and places of mountain worship. There is a shinto shrine at the top of each mountain.

Ubasawagoya -(Gassan lift) – Ue Statoin -(0:30)- Kanauba -(0:40)- Ushikubi -(1:00) Mt. Gassan -(0:40)- Ushikubi -(1:50)- Ubasawagoya [4:40 in total]
Note: This route is not technically difficult, what is more, it is an easier route thanks to Gassan lift. There is remaining snow in end July but is the best season to enjoy flowers.
