It was a quiet vacation in the mountain. It is because section which were completely off-limits did exist on the main route?

The first family hike of the year 2017

“Where is the path to the trailhead?”

We did not plan Mt. Akayuki-yama (Mt. Akayuki) hike for the first time. We planned Sekison-zan (Mt. Sekizon) hike but we could not find trailhead. Because there was no sign on the road, we just missed it. Then, we headed to Akayuki-yam as an alternative plan.

“Dad! This trail is off limits now.”

There was a sign on the trailhead of Akayukiyama. It said ”Danger! Being obstructed by many trees fallen due to the heavy snow in 2014, the route is off limits”. As there was an alternative route to the peak, we decided to hike the other route…

Although the trail started with a steep slope, my daughter walked faster. Because of the first hike of the year? She was getting a rush of motivation?

She was behind me, when I noticed it. She still did not think about how to pace herself.

Finally, she arrived the peak. Surprisingly, we had not met other hikers. It was very quiet. It seems to be unpopular among hikers in winter season.

Unfortunately, trees shut out the view from the peak except one direction.

The best view of the day for my daughter was from the parking place.

Hike in Akayuki-yama, as a round trip, is a short and easy hike. Many hikers visit there in flower season of Akayashio, which is a sort of azalea. They step the peaks of Akayuki-yama and Sennin-ga-take as a day hike. We may be back there in the flower season.
