Kirigamie Day Hike (24Jul2011)
Hiking
I planned a trip for 3 days and 2 nights to hike 3 mountains, i.e. Utsukushigahara, Kirigamine and Tateshina-yama. The second mountain of the trip was Kirigamine. I wondered if she could walk Kirigamne after walking Utsukushigahara…
full-blown hemerocallis
Walking time should have been less than 1 hour (as a roud-trip) from Kurumayama-kata parking place. However, it was full of car and a park waiting vehicle train happened because it was the season of hemerocallis. I parked a car at another parking lot. It was kind of far from Kurumayama-kata.
we can see Mt. Kirigamine as below on sunny days. (image is from photo AC)
The path from Kurumayama-kata was a stony path on a mountain but it was in good condition. we just walk on the path on a gentle slope. It was a shame that we could not enjoy the beautiful scene of the mountain because of fog.
It took less than 1 hour to step the peak (Kurumayama) even a three-year-old child. According to a guide plate on the peak, view of Japan Alps and Yatsugatake Mountains is expected on sunny days. We were unlucky.
We did not stay longer on the peak because the air temperature was relatively low.
After returned from the peak, we enjoyed a full-blown hemerocallis.
My daughter climbed two of Hyakumeizan (i.e., Mt. Utsukushigahara and Mt. Kirigamine) in a day. Hyakumeizan means one hundred famous mountains in Japan which was introduced by a writer in a book. Hyakumeizan is popular for Japanese hikers and many of them try to climb all the mountains.
